Professional goals
Goal 1: Professional Relationships
Teaching Standard: Establish and maintain professional relationships and behaviours focused on the learning and wellbeing of each learner.
Action Plan (by the end of this placement I will have):
Create and uphold professional and trusting connections and conduct with ākonga, Kaiako hāpai, whānau, and the wider staff members, resulting in the growth and wellbeing of each learner.
Weekly Steps:
Week 1
Creating and developing relationships (whanaungatanga) with Kaiako Hapai and the wider staff members.
Creating and developing relationships (whanaungatanga) with ākonga and their whanau (when applicable).
Creating and developing relationships (whanaungatanga) teaching colleagues and other professionals. Also, the individuals in the wider community, and any relevant agencies and groups.
Week 2
Communicating effectively with others and taking initiative through active contribution and showing leadership, particularly in areas of responsibility
Week 3
Communicating clear and accurate information about assessments for learning and achievement. Working collaboratively in the pursuit of improving and learning my own organisational practices.
Goal 2: Learning Focused Culture
Teaching Standard: Develop a culture that is focused on learning, and is characterised by respect, inclusion, empathy, collaboration.
Action Plan (by the end of this placement I will have):
Developed an environment that is built on trust and respect with students through a learning-focused relationship by setting high standards for learning outcomes, managing the learning environment to ensure that all students have access to learning, and fostering a welcoming environment for all students by recognising the diversity and individuality of every student.
Weekly Steps:
Week 1
Developing rapport and trust with learners through a learning-focused relationship. Enable learners to actively participate in the process of learning, sharing their ownership and responsibility for learning.
Fostering an environment for trust, respect, and cooperation among learners. So, they experience an environment where it is safe to take risks.
week 2
Demonstrate high expectations for the learning outcomes for all learners including learners with disabilities or learning support needs. Taking initiative to learn about varying disabilities to understand how I can connect with those learners.
Manage the learning setting to ensure all learners have access to learning and to maximise learners physical, social, cultural, and emotional safety.
Week 3
Creating an environment where all learners culture and languages are welcome to enhance and validate their abilities and identities. Celebrate and value the diversity and uniqueness of all learners through acceptance.

TE Reo māori goal
Show my commitment to Te Ao Māori and look for ways to include Mātauranga Māori and Māori contexts in my teaching practises and pedagogical approaches. I will also look for ways to include te reo Māori in my teaching, with a focus on correct pronunciation.
Weekly steps
Week 1
Rangatiratanga:
Opening karakia/waiata at the start of the day during Tikanga and encourage akonga to bring and read their own karakia.
Speaking te reo Māori consistently through lessons, such as Ka pai - Well Done, Tino pai - very good etc.
Week 2
Whanaungatanga:
Enhancing and encouraging akonga's cultural identity through their connections of their whakapapa. Creating a visual pepeha for their own cultural connections and their own identities. Through this we can strengthen our relationship and create a sense of unity, belonging and cohesion.
Week 3
Manaakitanga
Encouraging akonga to talk positively to one another, showing generosity and care. We can do this by showing appraisal through te reo Māori, for example:
Ngā mihi, tēnā koe, tēnā kōrua, tēnā koutou, tēnā tātou - Thank you (you two, all of you, all of us
Anō nei tō (kaha, māia, ataahua, pukumahi. Katahi nei tō - ...You have so much (strength, bravery, beauty, hardwork)
